Mrs. Sara Leimkuhler joined the Dobyns-Bennett EXCEL faculty in 2015. Sara comes to us with a Bachelor of Arts with a emphasis in Art and minor in Education from East Tennessee State University. She is also currently enrolled at ETSU where she will earn her master's degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. Sara has an immense variety of educational experience including teaching art at both Kingsley Elementary and Miller Perry Elementary before joining Kingsport City Schools to teach at Innovation Academy. At Innovation Academy, Mrs. Leimkuhler was the Multi-Media instructor but also worked collaboratively with other teachers to create cross curricular, project based learning units. After leaving Innovation Academy, Mrs. Leimkuhler taught Art at Kennedy Elementary whiling hosting STEM club for two years. This variety of art, technology, and innovation makes her a perfect fit for DBE's Digital Arts teacher!
When Sara is not working she is spending time with her husband, Hayden, and their family. Mrs. Leimkuhler has a very large family with five older brothers, three nieces, three nephews, and three fur babies of her own named Dixie, Ella and Phoebe.However, during the fall, you will find her in Blacksburg, Virginia cheering on the Hokies or just spending down time with her friends and family.
She loves DBE for her ability to build relationships with her co-workers and students. She loves that we are a 21st Century School that focuses on individual student's needs while embedding technology and blended learning. Sara loves that students are excited to take ownership of their learning here, which makes any teacher happy.
