Mr. Sam McCord joined the DBE faculty to teach 11th and 12th grade English in the fall of 2015. Although, as a Dobyns-Bennett graduate, he is no stranger to the Tribe. After graduation, Sam attended Maryville College, Milligan College, and is currently working on his doctorate at East Tennessee State University.
Mr. McCord has been teaching English for seven years, six of which were spent in Hawkins County. He also teaches as an adjunct professor for Northeast State in the evenings, as well as, spending time coaching football for the Sevier Warriors.
Outside of work, Sam enjoys fishing, kayaking, music, movies, and especially spending time with his lovely wife, Kayla. Mr. McCord is very close with his family; he believes his parents are “top notch”. And although it takes effort keeping in touch with his sister living in Swaziland, Africa, his brother is much closer working for the Kingsport Boys and Girls Club.
Mr. McCord tries to treat his students with similar kindness his family has bestowed upon him. He enjoys his co-workers, since they work together seamlessly as family. And, the students are alright... actually, he likes them a lot. This makes Mr. McCord one of our all-stars here at DBE!
