SCAD Representative Visits Honors/AP Drawing Class

On Thursday, November 7th, Russell Alexander II, actor, director, singer-songwriter, and Assistant Director of Admission at the Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD), visited Mr. Bennett's Honors/AP Art students. During his visit, Mr. Alexander delivered an engaging presentation about the various opportunities at SCAD, including its two campuses and diverse range of academic programs. He highlighted the cutting-edge technology being integrated into the arts at SCAD and shared numerous examples of how students are using these tools in their creative work.

The presentation gave students an inside look at what daily life is like for a SCAD student, filled with informative content, visuals, videos, and real stories from SCAD students. Mr. Alexander maintained an interactive dialogue throughout, keeping the students engaged and ensuring they absorbed the wealth of information being shared.

As an unexpected bonus, Mr. Alexander generously waived the application fee for any student interested in applying to SCAD. Twelve out of the fifteen students seized this opportunity, and Mr. Alexander provided valuable support as they completed their applications. He also offered personalized advice about different programs at SCAD and what life at the college is truly like. As a token of appreciation, the students were given SCAD-branded keychains and sketchbooks.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Alexander and SCAD for one of the most well-organized and informative college visits our AP students have experienced in years. The visit was an invaluable experience, exposing the students to a wide range of exciting career possibilities in the arts after high school.
