There is a place for everyone at D‑B EXCEL! Clubs and activities give students opportunities to explore their interests, develop leadership skills, serve the community, compete, and connect with others. Explore the opportunities below and find a way to get involved.
STEM and Career Exploration:
DBE BioBuds gives students the opportunity to work with professionals from MIT on BioBuilder projects. Through hands-on activities and guidance from mentors, students explore synthetic biology, biotechnology, and how scientists use biology to solve real-world problems.
CareerConnect is a career-readiness program offered by the Niswonger Foundation in partnership with local schools and industries. Students, called Explorers, begin the program in 10th grade and continue through 12th grade. Participants explore career options, build workplace skills, earn career-readiness credentials, and gain real-world experience. Explorers meet once a month after school and attend a Summer Experience Camp after 10th and 11th grades.

R’Mateys Underwater Robotics gives students the chance to design, build, and operate underwater robots. Members work together to solve engineering challenges while developing skills in robotics, electronics, programming, problem-solving, and teamwork. No previous robotics experience is required—just an interest in learning, building, and trying new things.
Service and School Leadership:
DBE Key Club is a student-led service organization that helps students make a difference at school and in the community. Members take part in service projects, events, and fundraisers while building leadership skills, meeting new people, and supporting causes that matter to them.
D‑BE Kind is the school’s positive encouragement club. Members find ways to support and uplift students, teachers, staff, and members of the Kingsport community. The club also gives students a place to share ideas for supporting the social and emotional well-being of our school and community.
Student Council gives students a voice in the school community. Members help plan school activities, encourage school spirit, and find ways to make D‑B EXCEL a welcoming and positive place for everyone.
